About the Forestry Commission

The Forestry Commission is the government department responsible for protecting, expanding and promoting the sustainable management of woodlands, while increasing their value to society and the environment.

We work closely with 2 agencies – Forest Enterprise, which manages the Public Forest Estate, and Forest Research, which is Great Britain’s principal organisation for forestry and tree-related research.

You can find out more about what we do on our GOV.UK page.

Through this blog we’ll share stories on the range of work we do, provide updates to projects taking place across England that we are involved in and give you an opportunity to discover the people who work in the Forestry Commission and their passion for the work that they do.

We would love your feedback on our blog so please comment and ask questions, and let us know if there's a topic you would like covered in one of our posts.
